California Privacy Rights
Last updated: January 1, 2026
This Notice supplements our Privacy Policy and applies to California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA"), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA").
1. Categories of personal information we collect
In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information from California residents:
- Identifiers: name, postal address, email, phone number, IP address, online identifiers, date of birth.
- Customer records information (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e)): insurance, vehicle, and driving history information.
- Protected classification characteristics: age, gender, marital status (used for insurance underwriting).
- Internet or other electronic network activity: browsing history, search history, and information about your interaction with our Site.
- Geolocation data: approximate location derived from IP address or ZIP code you provide.
- Inferences: drawn from the above to create a profile reflecting preferences and likely insurance needs.
2. Sources of personal information
- Directly from you (forms, calls, emails).
- Automatically from your device (cookies, server logs).
- From service providers, marketing partners, and public records.
3. Purposes for which we use personal information
See Section 3 of our Privacy Policy.
4. Categories of recipients
- Licensed insurance agents, brokers, carriers, and aggregators.
- Service providers that act on our behalf (hosting, analytics, communications).
- Marketing partners (see Marketing Partners).
- Government authorities as required by law.
5. "Sale" or "sharing" of personal information
Although we do not exchange personal information for monetary consideration, our practice of sharing information with marketing partners for cross-context behavioral advertising and their direct-marketing purposes may be considered a "sale" or "share" under the CCPA. The categories of personal information we may sell or share are: identifiers, customer records, internet activity, geolocation, and inferences.
We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
6. Sensitive personal information
We collect a limited set of sensitive personal information (such as date of birth) solely to perform the services you request — preparing an insurance quote — and we do not use it to infer characteristics about you. Accordingly, the right to limit use of sensitive information does not apply.
7. Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Quote inquiries are typically retained for 5 years.
